Welcome to our website and I hope you enjoy looking through the pages and finding out all about our Carlin Pinschers. There are only a few breeders out there right now and April Truscott is one of the oldest. Julie got her start from April when she got Buster and Brownie from her, and this was the start of the current movement for breeders of Carlins.
First we have had dogs all our lives and they have always been part of our family, not brought up in a kennel. In fact we prefer dogs to most people. We understand them when they talk to you, and they really do. This may sound strange to some , but others know exactly what I am talking about .Our dogs complete our life , and we would be lost without them. this is an extended family project. And to this day continues to be a family projuect not just one person, Unlike some people llike to insinuate when they have not clue what they are talking about . I mean for 4 years she though Chris was a guy, so not so bright.
We raised Rottweilers from 1969 until 2004 when I had my last litter. But because of medical reasons could no longer raise large dogs. As our last few dogs were getting older, we found out about these Carlin Pinschers and knew we found our new love. They resembled the Rottie we loved so much.
These Dogs Look like mini Rotties but are not related, we had considered going the route of using our last female Rottie for breeding down but I found that was not the way to go.
My min pin did breed my Rottie and had one beautiful puppy , very square and nice bone and such a sweet personality, no misconfirmation , but way to big for what it would take to have the look of the mini Rottie . He was about 50 pounds, I would say we had the first Min Pin -Rottie crosses back in 2005. He looked just like a tank, big blocky head. But I knew this would not be the way I was going to go to get the Carlin Pinscher. below are some pics of him . He is a doll my son has .

We have tried a few different cross breedings but did not get the look we were looking for and considered breeding different dogs other than the min pin to pug cross. Min Pin to Pug does not get the look or color of the Rottie right away.
A lot of the carlins out there have no bone for the most part ,and breeding to this again and again lessens even more the bone you might have. so you do need to bring in some other type dog to get bone and look of rottie, just as Julie does but does not let people know what she does cross with. We think you should know what is in your dog .
Some people advertise crossing only the pug to min pin that have big heads and big bone well that is not possible at all so do beware of these false statements. If you wat the look of the Rottie you need bone and substance and you just will not get it with min pin to pug only corsses but when other breeders buy from each other then it is not just min pin to pug breeding.
Also some breeders out ther have puppies that have long hair on their puppies so you know they will have more hair as they get older. Why would a rottie or even mini Boxer have long hair on it .. it shouldn't but then that is what you have to know when breeding to breed the right dogs together and if it does not turn out . then you do not repeat it as some breeders do putting out long haired dogs time and time again .
Ask to see parents as most breeders do not have all their dogs on their dsite for you to see or will not send you pics of them . Ask to see parents even if it is in pics only. See if they are raised in a kennel or in the house and imprinted form birth so they are well adjusted pups.. are they breeding the same dogs over and over or are they moving forward to improve thier dogs or just staying stagnent and breeding them same ones over and over again with no improvement and only having pups to make money . A good portion of breeders out there right now are doing just this.
If you are looking for a mini Rottie then that is what you want you pup to look like. It is OK for competition amongst breeders but do your own checking out of dogs do not just believe what any one person thinks they know leqarn for yourself.
We also had Dilute Min Pins long before they were also so popular , this was back in 1994. we had all colors , none with any skin problems and we knew how to breed not to get skin problems .We had gone as far at that time as you could with the Min Pins. But now there are also brindle and harlequin min pins also .
With having a background in Rotties and Min Pins , as well as Pugs since I was a child . We had them when I was in school . My mom had raised dogs since I was small, so we have spent our whole lives raising dogs, so a lot is just automatic knowledge for me , or ingrained in us .We are definitely dog people through and through.
Now to the Carlin Pinschers. We have been involved since 2004 when we found the first Yahoo site with the original Carlin Pinscher group .We fell in love with their look and said these would be our next dogs , and we have now come full circle with large rotties and small look alike ones now.
For those interested in puppies there is a non-refundable deposit of $300 or at least half the cost of puppy to hold any pup. This means you will not recieve a deposit under any circumstances unless the puppy dies in breeders hands bfore leaving for its new home ,anything else will have deposit put on another puppy or future puppy as soon as it would be available. Please understand if we take this puppy off the market for you others that may have wanted it are the ones losing out especially the black and rust which everyone wants first . Then there is an additional cost of remarketing and feeding and vet costs becasue the puppy stays longer and is not with his new owner. So please understand this is in the puppies best interest and of the people looking for puppies as well .
If you change your mind maybe becasue you found a cheaper one or any other explanation your deposit and any other monies are also non refundable . Again this is for puppies benifit as well as others who may have wanted this pup.
Please look through the following individual dog pages and see how things are progressing. We would love to hear from others, lovers of them as pets and serious breeders .
I have always wanted to get a core group of us breeders who are serious together somehow , so we can all contribute to the breeding program to make these dogs what they should be .But then you have others that are breeding these dogs who cannot get over their jealousies and just deal with breeding to the best of their abilities. So do watch out for those people.
We hope these will not just the next" popular fashion dog" and puppy mills will go crazy breeding them .They are a great family dog for small spaces and older people who cannot handle big dogs that love the look of the Rottie.
Well we have had some new litters and had some awesome rainbow colored pups . They are growing by leaps and bounds. They also are starting to paly with the older dogs also so are becoming well socialised which a good dog needs .
The colors we have are the normal black and rust and fawns with black mask. But we think we are the first to have the merle and pieds. We have had brindles before but not at this time .
We also have been breeding to add the bone we talked about earlier in this page. These pups are looking great with the good bone they have ...some look like little tanks , now we will have to see how the rest turns out, we know we adore the merle colors and how spectacular they look.
